WSCSA NEWS AND UPDATES
With the summer/fall season winding down, not many volunteer shifts remain. If you haven't had a chance to sign up for your volunteer shifts yet, please be sure to do so here. All summer members must complete 2 shifts, and fall members must complete 1 shift. Please note that failure to fulfill your volunteer requirement will result in a charge of $100 per missed shift. Also, don't forget that we're now selling tote bags! They are $15 each and you can pay for them with Venmo, cash, or check. Cheers, NEWS FROM THE FARM The 10-day forecast looks like fall is coming soon with a vengeance. By Friday we're looking at a low in the mid 30s and highs over the next 4 days will be barely hitting 50. Already, the growth of most plants has slowed immensely. So, it is likely we will have a frost next week.
On the farm:
With the fall temperatures (minus the rain), work is much more comfortable on the farm. This week we are making beds to plant garlic. Garlic is a crop that is planted in the fall and overwintered and harvested mid-July. We are also planting onions in high tunnels which typically are available in the spring for market and winter CSAs. The pace of harvest will pick up with the specter of a frost later in the week….
