WSCSA NEWS AND UPDATES

Hi Members,

There are only two pickups left in our fall share, and the season is winding down. Be on the lookout for emails later this week with details for Winter Share sign up, and our annual Thanksgiving Market Day.

We have one shift open tomorrow in 2pm slot, which you can sign up for here. Only one (1) pickup remains after 11/5. Out of 72 members, 8 members are yet to fulfill their volunteer requirements (i.e., 2 shifts for summer members and 1 shift for fall members). Please remember that there is a $100 fine for each unfulfilled/missed shift. To avoid being fined $100 for each missed shift, we are offering a late-buyout option (i.e., $50 per shift). If choosing this advance option, $50 should be sent to Washington Square CSA at https://Venmo.com/washingtonsquarecsa.

CALL FOR WEB SAVVY MEMBERS
In 2020 we'll need to migrate our website and membership platform to a new service, and we're looking for members with web design and/or web development experience to help us strategize the shift to a new platform. If you are interested, please email us ASAP at info@washingtonsquarecsa.com

Thanks!

NEWS FROM THE FARM
midwest flood

The longest run of summer crops will most likely end this coming week, though some things have already ended like corn and squash. We will have two days next week with highs below freezing and lows in the teens and low twenties.

We are still assessing the damage we had from the storm Thursday night and Friday morning. We lost high tunnels and crops were flooded along our fields along the Chenango River. Our loss pales in comparison with what farmers experienced in the Midwest this spring (as seen above, right). Scenes from our farm:

flood-1 flood-2

So, this next week we will be cleaning up from the storm as well as getting ready for the winter. We are building a seeding room on the back of our new greenhouse and a water filtration shed for our greenhouses at the main farm.
